This 6-day safari is a journey through the heart of Southern Kenya, combining the fiery, volcanic landscapes of Tsavo with the iconic, majestic plains of Amboseli. You’ll explore two distinct parks in one grand adventure: the vast, rugged wilderness of Tsavo, famous for its “red elephants” and rich history, and the lush, marshy plains of Amboseli, set against the breathtaking backdrop of Mount Kilimanjaro.

Day-by-Day Itinerary
Day 01: Nairobi to Tsavo West National Park
You are met by Nature Expeditions representative and drive to Tsavo West National Park, famed for the notorious “Man Eaters of Tsavo.” The park offers remarkable views with habitats ranging from mountains, river forests, and lakes to wooded grassland.
- Morning: Depart from Nairobi and travel south to the vast Tsavo ecosystem.
- Lunch: Arrive at your lodge or camp in time for lunch.
- Afternoon: Embark on your first game drive, exploring the park’s volcanic terrain and searching for its famous big cats and elephants.
- Evening: Settle in for dinner and your first night in the wild.
Day 02: Full Day Exploring Tsavo West
Spend a full day discovering the park’s unique features, from lava flows to a crystal-clear oasis teeming with life.
- Morning: Game drive to the Shetani & Chaimu Lava Flows. You’ll also visit Mzima Springs, whose source is the Chyulu Hills. An underwater glass tank provides a special vantage point to view hippos and crocodiles.
- Lunch: Return to the lodge for lunch and a rest.
- Afternoon: A second game drive to explore more of the park. You’ll also have a chance to visit the Ngulia Rhino Sanctuary, established to protect the highly poached Black Rhino.
- Evening: Dinner and overnight at your lodge or camp.
Day 03: Tsavo West to Tsavo East National Park
After breakfast, depart and drive to Tsavo East National Park, one of the world’s leading bio-diversity strongholds with its bushy grasslands and open plains.
- Morning: Enjoy a final game drive in Tsavo West before making the scenic drive to Tsavo East.
- Lunch: Arrive at your new lodge or camp in time for lunch.
- Afternoon: Embark on a captivating game-viewing drive, encountering diverse arrays of wildlife, including the famous “red elephants,” amidst the park’s unique terrain.
- Evening: As the sun sets, return for dinner and an overnight stay, surrounded by the sounds of the African wilderness.
Day 04: Tsavo East to Amboseli National Park
After breakfast, drive to Amboseli National Park, celebrated for its abundant big game and breathtaking vistas of the majestic Mount Kilimanjaro.
- Morning: Depart Tsavo East and journey towards Amboseli, watching for the first clear glimpse of Africa’s tallest mountain.
- Lunch: Arrive in time for lunch at your new accommodation.
- Afternoon: Go on a guided nature walk (where permitted) or an afternoon game drive, connecting you intimately with the park’s unique ecosystem, its diverse flora, and the iconic presence of Kilimanjaro in the backdrop.
- Evening: Dinner at your lodge or camp.
Day 05: Full Day in Amboseli
Spend a full day in Amboseli, known for its massive herds of elephants, some of which have the largest tusks in Kenya. You’ll wake up to (weather permitting) the stunning sight of Kilimanjaro’s peak.
- Morning: An early game drive offers the best light for photography. Watch elephants and other wildlife graze in the lush swamps fed by underground springs from the mountain.
- Lunch: Return to your lodge for lunch and relaxation.
- Afternoon: Embark on a final game drive, perhaps visiting Observation Hill for a panoramic view of the entire park, before searching for lions, cheetahs, and hyenas.
- Evening: Enjoy your last safari dinner, cherishing the magical views.
Day 06: Amboseli to Nairobi
After breakfast, check out and embark on your journey back to Nairobi, where you’ll be dropped off, marking the end of your remarkable safari adventure.
- Morning: Enjoy a final breakfast with views of the mountain before beginning the drive back to Nairobi.
- Afternoon: Arrive in the city and be dropped off at your hotel or transferred to Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (NBO) for your outbound flight.
