Moments from the field
Real trips, real guests, real Kenya — a look at what our Safaris actually looks like.
Before you book
Questions people actually ask
Clear, direct answers to essential planning questions for your East African safari.
Do I need a visa or eTA to visit Kenya?
Kenya replaced visas-on-arrival with an Electronic Travel Authorisation (eTA). All international visitors, including children and infants, must obtain an approved eTA online before boarding their flight. Applications are processed through the official government portal, typically taking 3 business days.
Do I need any vaccinations for a Kenya safari?
A Yellow Fever vaccination certificate is mandatory if you are arriving from or transiting through a yellow fever-endemic country. For direct flights from Europe, North America, or Asia, it is generally not required. We recommend consulting a travel health specialist 4–6 weeks prior to departure regarding routine boosters and malaria prophylactics.
What is the best time of year for a Kenya safari?
The peak dry season runs from late June through October, offering optimal wildlife viewing as animals gather around water sources. January through February is another excellent dry period. The rainy seasons occur in April–May (long rains) and November (short rains), offering lush scenery and lower lodge rates.
What should I pack for a safari?
Pack lightweight, neutral-colored clothing (khaki, beige, olive), comfortable walking shoes, a wide-brim hat, high-SPF sunscreen, and sunglasses. Early morning game drives can be chilly, so bring a warm fleece or jacket layer. Soft-sided luggage is required for bush flights due to strict weight and space limits.
Is Kenya safe for families and solo travelers?
Yes, Kenya is a well-established and safe destination for luxury safari travel. You are guided by experienced professional driver-guides from arrival to departure. Standard travel awareness applies in urban transit hubs like Nairobi, while safari parks and private conservancies provide secure environments.
When can I see the Wildebeest Migration?
The Great Migration herds typically reach Kenya’s Maasai Mara between July and October. The dramatic Mara River crossings peak between August and September. Wildlife movements depend on annual rainfall patterns, so itineraries are planned around current herd locations.
What is the difference between private and group safaris?
A private safari provides dedicated exclusive use of a custom 4×4 Land Cruiser vehicle and guide, allowing complete flexibility over your daily schedule, game drive lengths, and pace. Group safaris share vehicle space and fixed itineraries with fellow travelers.
Can you customize an itinerary for us?
Every safari itinerary can be customized. The sample routes listed on our site serve as conceptual starting points. We tailor accommodation tiers, destination pairings, park durations, and flight connections around your exact preferences, party size, and dates.
How far in advance should I book my safari?
For high-season travel (July–October and festive holidays), we recommend booking 6 to 11 months in advance. Premium boutique lodges and migration riverfront camps have limited room inventories that fill up early. Off-peak bookings can typically be accommodated with shorter notice.
What is your payment and cancellation policy?
A deposit is required to secure lodge bookings and internal flight reservations, with the final balance due prior to arrival. Specific cancellation windows and deposit terms vary depending on the chosen lodge collection and seasonal travel period, all disclosed prior to confirmation.
