Day-by-Day Itinerary
Day 01: Arrival & Journey to Amboseli National Park
Your adventure begins the moment you land. Leaving the bustle of Nairobi, you’ll travel southeast towards the legendary Amboseli National Park.
- Arrival: Upon arrival at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA), a Nature Expeditions representative will warmly greet you.
- Transfer: Enjoy a scenic drive to Amboseli, watching the landscape change as the majestic Mount Kilimanjaro comes into view.
- Lunch: Arrive at your camp/lodge in time for a delicious lunch.
- Afternoon: Embark on your first game drive. Amboseli is world-renowned for its large herds of elephants with impressive tusks.
- Evening: Dinner and overnight stay at your lodge/camp.
Day 02: Discover Amboseli National Park
Dedicate a full day to exploring the diverse habitats of Amboseli, from its dusty lake beds to its lush swamps.
- Morning: Set out on an early game drive to catch the wildlife at its most active, with the best chance of seeing the mountain clear of clouds.
- Wildlife: Look for lions, cheetahs, buffalo, and the park’s famous elephant families.
- Lunch: Return to your camp for lunch and a midday rest.
- Afternoon: Continue your exploration with another game drive, soaking in the breathtaking scenery.
- Evening: Dinner and overnight at your lodge/camp.
Day 03: Journey to Lake Naivasha
Leaving the elephants behind, you’ll travel to the Great Rift Valley to experience a different kind of wild beauty.
- Morning: Enjoy a final early morning game drive in Amboseli before departing for Lake Naivasha.
- Lunch: Enjoy a picnic lunch en route or upon arrival at the lake.
- Afternoon: Visit the unique Crescent Island Sanctuary. Here, you’ll take a serene boat ride across the lake and then enjoy a guided nature walk among giraffes, zebras, and antelopes—an experience free from predators.
- Evening: Dinner and overnight at your lakeside lodge/camp.
Day 04: Travel to the Maasai Mara
Today, the journey takes you to the jewel of Kenya’s wildlife crown: the legendary Maasai Mara National Reserve.
- Morning: After breakfast, check out and begin the scenic drive across the Rift Valley floor to the Mara.
- Lunch: Arrive at your camp/lodge in the Mara in time for lunch.
- Afternoon: Embark on your first game drive in this world-famous reserve, keeping your eyes peeled for the Big Five.
- Evening: Return to your camp for dinner and stories around the fire.
Day 05: Full Day Safari in Maasai Mara
A full day to immerse yourself in the drama and beauty of the Mara plains.
- All Day: Spend the day on morning and afternoon game drives. The reserve is teeming with wildlife, from prides of lions to cheetahs hunting on the plains.
- Optional: For a truly unforgettable perspective, you can book a hot air balloon safari (extra cost) to float over the Mara at sunrise.
- Wildlife: This is prime territory for spotting the Big Cats and, in season, the Great Migration of wildebeest.
- Evening: Enjoy your final safari dinner at the lodge/camp.
Day 06: Departure
Bid farewell to the bush as you journey back to the city.
- Morning: After breakfast, check out and begin the drive back to Nairobi.
- Transfer: Upon arrival in Nairobi, you will be transferred to Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA) for your departure flight home.
