Day-by-Day Itinerary
Day 01: Arrival & Journey to Amboseli
Your adventure begins as you meet your fellow travelers and head southeast towards the roof of Africa.
- Welcome: Upon arrival in Nairobi, you’ll be met by a Nature Expeditions representative.
- Scenic Drive: Drive southeast to Amboseli National Park, famed for its large elephant herds and unmatched views of Mount Kilimanjaro.
- Lunch: Arrive at your camp or lodge in time for a delicious lunch.
- Afternoon Game Drive: Set out on a scenic game drive in search of wildlife including lions, buffaloes, and gazelles against the backdrop of the mountain.
Day 02: Full-Day Exploration of Amboseli
A full day dedicated to the giants of Amboseli and the diverse habitats at the foot of Kilimanjaro.
- Morning: Enjoy an early morning game drive when the mountain is most likely to be clear of clouds. Watch for hippos in the swamps and giraffes in the acacia woodlands.
- Wildlife: Look for the park’s famous “tuskers”—elephants with massive ivory tusks—and elusive predators like cheetahs.
- Photography: The dramatic backdrop of Kilimanjaro provides an iconic setting for photography and wildlife encounters.
- Evening: Dinner and overnight at your lodge/camp.
Day 03: Amboseli to Lake Naivasha
Trade the open plains for the dramatic cliffs and fresh waters of the Great Rift Valley.
- Morning: Drive north through the scenic Great Rift Valley to Lake Naivasha, a freshwater lake teeming with birdlife and surrounded by volcanic terrain.
- Lunch: Arrive at your lodge and enjoy lunch.
- Crescent Island: In the afternoon, enjoy a relaxing boat ride across the lake to Crescent Island Sanctuary. Here, you will take a guided nature walk among herbivores such as impalas, giraffes, and zebras—a rare chance to walk safely in the wild.
Day 04: Naivasha to Maasai Mara
Set out for the crown jewel of Kenya’s wilderness: the legendary Maasai Mara.
- Morning: Depart early for the Maasai Mara Game Reserve, Kenya’s most celebrated wildlife reserve.
- Lunch: Arrive in time for lunch at your camp or lodge.
- Afternoon Game Drive: Head out across the rolling plains dotted with acacia trees. Spot elephants, lions, and possibly cheetahs as the sun sets over the Mara.
Day 05: Full-Day Safari in Maasai Mara
A day of high drama and incredible sightings in one of the world’s densest wildlife areas.
- Big Five Safari: Spend the day exploring the reserve with game drives in search of the Big Five (lion, leopard, elephant, rhino, buffalo).
- Migration (Seasonal): If in season, you may witness the massive herds of wildebeest and the drama of the migration.
- Optional Activities: You can opt for a sunrise hot air balloon safari for a bird’s-eye view or a cultural visit to a nearby Maasai village (extra cost).
- Evening: Return to camp for your final safari dinner.
Day 06: Return to Nairobi – Departure
After a final breakfast in the bush, it’s time to head back to the city.
- Morning: Check out and drive back to Nairobi, passing through the lush highlands of Kenya.
- Arrival: Arrive in the city around midday.
- Drop-off: You will be dropped off at your hotel or transferred onward to Jomo Kenyatta International Airport for your flight home.
