Day-by-Day Itinerary
Day 01: Nairobi to Tsavo West – The Oasis of Mzima
Your journey begins as you leave the city behind and travel south into the rugged, volcanic landscapes of Tsavo West National Park.
- Morning: Depart from Nairobi and enjoy the scenic drive, watching the landscape transform from city to savanna.
- Lunch: Arrive at your lodge, Voyager Ziwani Tented Camp, perfectly set on a private sanctuary on the edge of the park.
- Afternoon: Embark on an awe-inspiring game drive to Mzima Springs. Here, crystal-clear water gushes from volcanic rock, creating an oasis for hippos, crocodiles, and vibrant birdlife. You’ll even get to see them from a unique underwater viewing chamber.
- Evening: Return to camp for dinner, surrounded by the sounds of the African night.
Day 02: Tsavo West to Tsavo East – The Land of Lions
Today you cross into Tsavo East, a vast wilderness of open plains, famous for its lion population and the legendary “man-eaters” history.
- Morning: Enjoy a final game drive in Tsavo West before crossing into the eastern section of the park.
- Lunch: Arrive and check in at the iconic Salt Lick Safari Lodge, famous for its unique stilt-house design overlooking a floodlit waterhole.
- Afternoon: Set out on your first game drive in Tsavo East. This is the land of the red elephants, and you’ll search for large herds as they move across the savanna.
- Evening: Enjoy dinner at the lodge and spend the evening watching animals come and go from the waterhole right below you.
Day 03: Full Day in Tsavo East – Kingdom of the Red Elephants
A full day dedicated to exploring the immense, sun-drenched plains of Tsavo East, home to some of the largest elephant herds in Kenya.
- All Day: You have the full day for morning and afternoon game drives. Your guide will take you to famous spots like Mudanda Rock and the Aruba Dam, where wildlife congregates.
- The Focus: Today is all about finding the magnificent red elephants, as well as lions, buffalo, zebras, giraffes, and a spectacular array of birdlife.
- Evening: Return to Salt Lick Lodge for your final night, enjoying one last view of the animals at the waterhole.
Day 04: Final Safari & Return to Nairobi
One last chance to breathe in the magic of the wild before your journey back to the city.
- Morning: Embark on an early morning game drive to catch the predators as they finish their night’s hunt and the plains wake up.
- Breakfast: Return to the lodge for a final, hearty breakfast.
- Journey Home: Begin the scenic drive back to Nairobi, filled with memories and photos. You’ll arrive in the late afternoon and be dropped off at your hotel or the airport.
